Pregnancy and joint pain, PLEASE HELP!?

March 22010

I have been having severe pain in my SI joint and problems with sciatica for about 2 months now. It started at work ( I work as a CNA in a nursing home), so it’s questionable as to whether this is a work related accident or just normal pregnancy pain. I went to physical therapy and was given exercises to do in order to strengthen my lower back, and was told there is no need to come back unless my sciatica is acting up then she does a therapeutic massage and this helps. Well my question is would it help to take a glucosamine chondrotine supplement? Would it be safe for my baby? The pain is unbearable, when I move in bed my back pops and cracks. My dr gave me vicodin, but that barely takes the edge off the pain. I am making an appointment with a chiropracter this monday, and unfortunetely due to my pregnancy, I can’t have x-rays done of my pelvis until after I deliver in July. For those that don’t know the SI joint is the sacroilliac joint that connects the sacram (base of the spine composed of 5 fused vertebrae) and the pelvis.

i have sciatica too it starts at my lower back and goes down my right leg it sucks! , i dont think u can take glucosamine, but this is def a question for your DR. i went to a chiropractor , and he has me stretch everyday and use a heating pad to relieve the pain, thats all you can really do. i also used icy hott patches at work, i was on my feet for 9 hours a day 40 hours a week.
